Windows 7 or 10?

TheWiiPanda

Windows 10, newer. Windows 7 will eventually end support at some point (2020?)

7 if you can't get the enterprise or education edition of 10. 10 home is a mess imo, i think 10 pro is also pretty bad but not sure. mostly advertizing bullshit that i object to. also spying is shit but thats also the case on windows 7 with some mysterious updates.

My opinion is that if anyone wants to tell me about Windows 10's privacy issues, they should read Microsoft's privacy statement on their website.

if you are a developer that does a lot of programming (not web design, graphic artists, architects, people who use CAD and web devs/designers should be using a fresher ui

but for programming, i prefer windows 7 over windows 10, although the desktop of windows 10 is basically the same as windows 7, i just prefer windows 7 in general, less of microsoft spying on you, even with telemetry settings turned off - which is a huge deal if you are working for a large software company that may or may not be competing with microsoft

For gaming I'd pick 10 to get DX12 support. Sure it's sometimes annoying or outright broken but after you have it set up, it's nicer than 7 in many small ways.

Windows 10 modified to be like Windows 7 (Classic Shell+Windows Photo Viewer+Media Player Classic+ and other tweaks of your pleasing) is the best OS I ever had.

Advertises or privacy issues? not on my Win10.
