Comparison and help on builds .

Whats the advantages/disadvantages to using an AMD system rather than an Intel system ?

Going with the 8320/8350 would be cheaper and more cores for BF4.

Lack of smaller form factors.

You're overspending if what you want to do is gaming.

Why 16GB ram? 8GB is plenty for gaming. Also, dominator platinums are a waste of money. Ram is ram. Brand has no affect on performance.

Caviar blacks aren't worth the money. Barracudas are only slightly slower and much cheaper.

My recommendations: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1XV5y

Hi ,I will be upgrading by current system

(Intel Core2 ,Asus P5Q SE Plus,HD4770 ,Kingston DDR2 ram(forgot) ,cooler master 550w ,cooler master elite mid tower) because it simply can't take the load of some games e.g BF4

I plan on using a

-Obsidian 750D

-Corsair AF120 performance editions

-MSI GD65/G45

-I5 4670K

-Corsair Dominator 16Gb 1866mhz

-EVGA SuperNova NEX650

-Gigabyte R9 280X

-WD Black 2TB

~$1440-1460 USD

Second/alt build is

-Corsair Dominator 16Gb 1866mhz

-EVGA SuperNova NEX650

-Gigabyte R9 280X-Obsidian 750D

-Corsair AF120 performance editions

-Asus ROG Maximus VI Hero

-I5 4670K

-WD Black 2TB

~$1460 USD

Will be running a single monitor ,a blackwidow Keyboard ,and a logitech desktop mouse(forgot the model)
I might upgrade to a Crossfire config in the near future.
Will be buying most of my stuff online cos the markup where i am is quite a bit.

I recommend you go with the first build but insteda of buying the new fans you could spend that mony on the motherboard, i think that would be better, the standard fans in the case are pretty good

Just the 3 stock Fans ? No need for additional fans ? Also , would i need a CPU cooler ?

Your temps will go down by 1oc or 2 oc max, its more of a placebo effect and it will get louder

Would performance change drastically if i use a Z87 sabertooth ?

no , motherboards do very little in terms of performance

Whats the advantages/disadvantages to using an AMD system rather than an Intel system ?

More cores, better oc-ing potential, better at video rendering and editing

and in games, it's equal or it outperforms the i5
