Hi there, I'm from South Africa and I would like to build a monster 2 user 1 desktop PC.

The budget is a difficult topic because the same product in the states costs around 30% more here and Amazon doesn't ship to Africa. The products listed below will give you a rough idea of what I'm willing to spend though.

The build:

Motherboard        X99 Rampage V Extreme edition 10

CPU                     i7-6950X         (I'm wondering if this is necessary as I'm sure the 5960X would do but it is an older gen. The local price difference is about R10 000($750) though)

RAM                    Corsair Vengenge Pro DDR4 32GB (4x8GB) 3200MHZ

GPU                    MSI GTX 1070 SEA HAWK Liquid Cooled OC edition  (x2)

PSU                    Corsair RM1000x

CPU cooler         Corsair H100i V2

SSD                    Suggestions? (Most major brands available)

HHD                   Suggestions? (Most major brands available)

Screens              Suggestions? (Most major brands available) Looking for a 1440p to get the most out of the 1070

Peripherals         To be decided on later

Case                   PC will be built into a table and covered with a perspex top

I'm open to any ideas or changes to the build. The idea is to build something that will last for quite a while and that will draw attention as a showpiece at LAN events for at least until the end of 2018.

I would also like to do another build some time in the future to improve on this. The idea will be for a Pro gaming team (usually consisting of 5 players) to game competitively from one station.

Drop the 1000w since even 2 1070's won't use NEAR that power. For R10000 the 6950X seems to be pretty good, but it's still really expensive for CSGO/DOTA/LOL. PG278Q is good for gaming but very expensive ( about R15k). Don't know much about SSD/HDD stuff

I assume you've seen most of these shops, but I can recommend Evetech, Rebeltech, Wootware, PClinkshop or just local stores

hit me up on Steam if you play CS- Froody with an ape profile pic

That's an F in the profile pic

here's my piece of advice: D.O.N.T.

DONT.

GPU passtrough is such a nightmare to work reliably you shouldnt do this for anything else than "for science", the amount of time and money you're spending on what will eventually be endlessly impractical would much better go into a custom case to build two discrete systems inside.

if you want to catch some eyes, glass sidepanel on both sides, with both sides being a clone of each other.

I know the PSU is overkill but I'd like to try and run a SLI config for each machine in the future to see if it's possible just for the heck of it.

The 6950X goes for about R30k but has 10 physical cores compared to the 5960X which has 8 physical cores. The idea is to split it in 2 and have 2 i5 equivalent CPUs for each VM

I've had a look at those shops thanks, and I do have access to suppliers such as Pinnacle, Rectron and Frontosa although I don't get their bulk buy discounts which makes Evetech ect a cheaper option at times

Here's my response : BUUUUT MOOOOOM

I know that there will be a lot of blood sweat and tears but in the end it'll be worth it.....FOR SCIENCE

I love virtualization and I think this would be a perfect opportunity to get my hands on UnRaid as all my virtualization experience up to now has been with VMWare.

I do however think you are on to something with the mirror image custom case design but I think the issue there will be that you dont get reverse designed Mobo's or GPUs which you'll need to make it look any good.

maybe 180° rotated would be the better term, you could literally make a system that looks the same right side up, and "the other right side up"

if you're going for show cool things, that'd look WAY more cool for probably less hairpulling and crashing.

i know linus's "x number of gamers" videos, i know they look appealing, but they only look appealing because they didnt show the 12+ hours of behind the scenes cringe.

I don't mind the cringe, that's how you learn and improve yourself.

If i wanted to do something easy and not learn anything I wouldn't be on here for advice

the advice from someone in the field is "dont, if you need it to be anywhere near reliable".
