I have a 4 disk Samsung 850 raid for my main editing storage. But because it's R0, I mirror the content to the NAS box. It's purely for speed.

fast is it?

Id get a dell r710 and don't go diy

ALso get athe 6 cores if you using cpu at all.

Id get a pcie ssd(you can run raid in software with linux on windows server). You can use the hardware raid card(like the h700) to run sata ssds.

If you uisng 6 ssds, run raid 10 or raid 5 atleast.
