FM2+ CPU upgrades

AMD Athlon X4 860K Quad core (3.7 GHz)

I notice that my AMD cpu does good for gaming but whenever I open up chrome and watch a video, download, have some kind of second program of use in the background my cpu Utilization will hit 80% or 90%. It causes the second task in the background to crash. Does anyone know of a better cpu to upgrade to most be FM2+ socket type.

You can get the 880k, maximum speed for FM2. It's bad.

 

Sell it and get a new mobo+CPU. I'd suggest Ryzen from AMD, which is coming out in Feb/March.

Well its either the same experience, or a replacement board+CPU. All of AMD's current dual module CPU (2 modules, 4 cores) have similar issues due to their unique design.

Yea you will definitely need a new cu+mobo for a major performance boost.

Pretty much the majority of the current FM2+ line isn't much better than early Core i3/mobile Core i5 in performance, and unless you overclock your 860K a lot, or buy a better graphics card (because your current one doesn't seem to be running hardware acceleration, which takes a lot of the load off the CPU when playing videos on the internet), there is no real upgrade path (and an APU wouldn't be much help either as they throttle to stay within their power limits)

Any upgrade you will make on FM2+ will be just marginally better.
