Graphics card overclock.

So I have 2 gtx 1080s that are on water, well will be tomorrow, I overclock with msi afterburner and this gives me a limited voltage increase as well as other settings, My question is can I make the voltage go higher and if so how high would be safe? as well how would i make it go higher.

A program will not allow the voltage to go higher than what the GPU is allowed. HIS iTurbo is the only exception, allowing for +400mV. +200 is completely fine.

not that I have an Nvidia GPU, but shouldn't just thee watercooling allow for higher boost clock automatically through GPU Boost?

You can only go as high as the manufacturer lets you. Pascal cards are pretty limited (around 1.093mV at most, I think) and to reach higher than that you'd need a custom BIOS which isn't available at the time being.

 

Afterburner won't let you pick specific voltages for those cards, only a percentage increase. Just slide it to 100% and the card will take care of the rest. I know it's not ideal, but without custom firmware out there this is your best bet.

if you do get custom bois or something in the future make sure the vrm is adequately cooled or you just lost you 1080s

Yes, but GPU Boost won't raise the voltage as high as you manually could, and will play it a little safe in terms of clock speeds. A manual overclock would most likely still be able to add ~100 MHz to the GPU boost frequencies.

Okay, didn't know that, but how much more performance could anyone need when they have 2 1080s?

Lol. In some more intense games on an acre predator x34 for example 1080 sli might still be short of 100 fps at ultra.

Even 200mhz I'd say, based on some cards I've seen and how easily they can achieve 2.1ghz at such low voltages.

 

I still have hopes for a Pascal BIOS tweaker... crossing fingers

When you run 3 screens and have your games spanned across all 3 it loads them down a ton, especially in rise of the tomb raider on max with smaa 4x and tripple buffered vsync you drop to 40 fps.
