Barebones Laptop

Im just wondering how cool would it be to have a barebones laptop 
like its a normal barebones system (cpu and or GPU included) but everything else like SSD ram etc is user populated. 
ofc there are ones like the Dell Inspiron but like its already populated. what if companies sold their systems where the user needed to populate the ram and storage? 
idk I find it interesting =P 

just want to gather thoughts on this subject

Many Clevo sellers let you do this.  HIDEvolution will sell you one with no ram or storage.  Eurocom almost does (I think you get 8GB of ram).
