1.5Mbs transerring speed

Go to solution Solved by brighttail,

I agree, start simple and check or switch out one wire at a time.  A kinked cable can kill speed even if it is no longer kinked but once was.

hey guy's

I'm having serious trouble with my Nas
I have a ZyXEL NAS326. Bought it half a year ago.

There are 2 main problems with it
The transfering speeds never get higher then 2Mbs (If they allready reach 2 then they go right down to 1.5 again)
And every now and then I get disconnected for no particular reason

I am using cat 5e cables and a 100 Mbs switch. The hard drives inside are 2 new WD Blue 1TB each in Mirror mode

Are transferring smaller files or one big one? The speed should be some where <10mbs.

Do you know if your cat cable is good? I had a similar issue once where I had two cat cables running in parallel (over a few meters distance) and the shielding was damaged. You could try to connect your Laptop to the cat cable where your NAS is conected to currently, and see if you can get any higher speed with your Laptop (for example to your PC). If you can't get higher speed it is most likely an issue with the cable (asuming you already switched ports for troubleshooting).
