Hello Folks!

You know how your teachers tell you that it isn't easy to find a job, and you don't believe them?

Of course you do. :P

So little rant with following questions.

So I'm out of school since 1 1/2 years, and have been applying for jobs since then.

In the past year I wrote and sent out about 350 Job applications, and all of them expect of 2 have been denied.(those two that haven't been denied, were just for checking out the profession, not actual jobs.)

As you could think, this is getting really on my nerves.

/rant off

To the questons: How many job applications have you written and sent out?

For what job?

And wwhere are you from?

Greetings and good luck to all of them out there searching for a job. :)

Similar situation here.

Almost been 2 years since I finished University, been sending lots of CV's per week.  Probably over 600 at this point.

Out of all of them, I've had 4 interviews, that's right....4 -_- and got turned down each of them because the other hundreds of people who applied had more experience.

I'm talking simple call center / retail work here mind you, of which I have experience, I did volunteering to get the neccacary experience, but apparently that isn't good enough.  I'm in the UK.  I'm 22 for reference.

I've broke down in tears sometimes over the thought of that I can't even get a simple job anywhere and no one will give me a chance.

It's basically feeling like you are a worthless piece of shit who isn't going to go anywhere in life, which is horrible.

Know your feel man, kinda gets to your head when you get rejected so much.

Yeh it does.
Recently had a job interview at the AA.

Sent my CV + application form, got a telephone interview, passed that, had a in person interview where they show you around, let you shadow someone who works there to get a feel of what you will be doing, and then a small interview to talk about the roll and what you can bring to the company.  I thought I did pretty well, I had plenty of experience to give as examples and I made sure I was as polite and as clear as possible when talking (which is what is needed in a call center).  Then I waited for a few days for a phone call back (which in it's self is horrible, waiting....) only to be told that I hadn't gotten the job because other people had more experience and where more suited to the position.

Why the hell did they even make me go for a interview in the first place? they could see by my CV what experience I had compared to others, why waste my time?

I literately broke down on the spot and couldn't stop.  What do they expect when no company's will give you a chance?
I've had plenty of suicidal thoughts over these past 2 years, and they are only getting stronger as time goes by.  I'm still with my parents and it's getting to a point where I'm questioning the point of it all.

Going to the job center every 2 weeks where they treat you like a criminal every time you go in, doesn't help either....

Anyway GL in your job search.

To be honest, Online Job applications suck "big time". I still believe in the old fashion way of walking in and actually speaking to a person in charge. Now I know in this day in age there are more companies that want you to fill out the online apps more then being a walk in, but being persistent and firm, you always have a chance in getting a interview face to face and that is the best way to get a job.

Also if you get a face to face interview, always be your self. act natural, it makes a better impression on the person that is interviewing you.

This is coming from a person, that has a job hiring people for a living, were I work. We also do the online apps, but every once in a while we will get a walk in and they will be persistent in talking to me and in my opinion, that is the biggest plus you can have and it shows that the person really does want a job and welling to work hard.

Pretty much all of my application have been physical applications (On paper) and about 50 of them have been handed in personally.

When you hand in your apps, always ask for a supervisor or a manager first before handing the app over to them. Make sure that it is someone that can hire you that sees you physically and sees your personality first hand. When i was younger, I always approached the manager and always  used the words mam or sir. it shows that you are respectful and managers love that.
