I was trying to fall asleep and a question popped in my head? After all these years of using 200 pin laptop RAM, why are motherboard manufacturers still using 240 pin slots in desktop boards?

After some Google search to quench my curiousity, I ran into another who posted the same question. However it seemed too tedious to read through all the replies. There didn't seem to be a straightforward answer.

Perhaps the people at Linustechtips can make a video to explain.

Well good night.

Well, i'm not an expert really but, PC Boards use more pins mainly cause it's a desktop o it can go higher on the voltage, while laptops are limited by batteries.
