Everything I've read about dyes being used is only that it it can stain the tubes, food dye can create algae, and you can use any dye. What about the the non-tubes, does it stain the radiator, pump housing, cpu block, copper, etc. since they are also touched in the loop.

Is this fine? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0006IKE66

Personally, I have used the mayhems dyes for colouring the liquid. As far as staining goes, pretty much all dyes will stain the soft flexible tubes. However it will not stain hard tubing such as PETG, acrylic or glass. Also it will not stain the cpu block, pump, radiator, etc.. as they are metal and acrylic which does not absorb the dyes.

I've experienced that the Mayhems UV laser green dye leaves some residue at the bottom of your reservoir, blocks and tubing over time. It's not hard to remove with a paper towel but it will require you to take the blocks apart. Putting the o-rings back in place on your gpu blocks can be quite a pain...

Dyes will stain EVERYTHING.

Soft tubing will have water and otuer materuals leech into it. So they will stain permanently. I recommed coloured tubing unstead.

As for other components. Dyes are simply coloured particulate matter. They are not in solution. Any particle can settle onto areas with low flow. That means any wall or surface. When particulate matter settles on the walls of tubes or blocks, you basically need to scrub them clean. Its not permanentky stained but it is maintenence. I take apsrt my entire system and open all the blocks for a good scrub. Rinsing is not enough. I add a bit of vinegar to copper blocks and rad to strip the surface layer of the copper.

Recently i have switched to just water because the maintence is hard work. I ordered the new thermaltake LED hard tube fittings. Finally i can get colour without silly dyes.
