So I have been having terrible problems in all games with huge FPS drops for 5 seconds or so and then back to normal. I have found out these drops occur because my CPU usage drops. What setting could be causing this ? CPU : AMD Fx 8350 Mobo: Asus m5a19 r le 2.0

Please Help :D

what's the GPU, and what's going on when the FPS drops?

this sounds like brief spikes of GPU heavy bits, causing the game to chug down.

GTX 1070, as you can see in the screenshot the clock speeds drop really really hard. It seems to be the CPU and not the GPUs problem

so.. i just googled your mobo.

those VRMs are causing pysical pain in my chest..

cpu clocks dropping isnt an indication, it could just be a result from lowered cpu usage (low cpu usage -> cpu clocks down to save power)

That was when I was playing a game, BF1 to be exact, So would you recommend a new mobo ?

As manikyath says, the clockspeed (in this case) is an indiciator of how much your CPU is being utilised, not a limitation. Do you have and data for GPU usage during these frame drops?

i would rather suggest to look forwards towards either zen, or intel offerings.

90% GPU usage and it was 90% CPU and then it drops hard, this was when playing BF1 ( The FPS drops super hard also )

So the GPU and CPU usages both drop at the same time as the FPS drops? sounds to me like your old CPU doesn't like working with the 1070. It might be time to start looking for an upgrade; after all Ryzen and Kaby Lake are just around the corner.

if i'd have to place a bet, its the mobo VRMs protecting themselves, but that would be a very wild bet based on little to no tangiable evidence :P

I honestly have no money to upgrade my CPU I can scrape enough for a new mobo this one : https://www.amazon.co.uk/MSI-970A-Gaming-Pro-Carbon/dp/B01LRWUCAC/ref=sr_1_15?ie=UTF8&qid=1484341958&sr=8-15&keywords=am3%2B+gaming

Would this fix my issues ?

Just the CPU usage
