So i haven't played any PC shooters games since the 1st Crysis debuted in 2007, COD 2, and my all time favorite Enemy Territory Quake Wars and decided to relive my DOOM days [which was originally on the PS1].  I may be getting old because the speed at which the online multiplayer plays is so freaking fast I cant even see crap before I die.  Are all multiplayer games this fast today?  I know my gaming rig is not the problem 6700K GTX1080 and all.  I was thinking to move on the Battlefield 1.

You obviously don't remember the old FPS games well.

FPS now-a-day is SLOW. Go back and play quake or the original Doom. You'll get wrecked.

Multiplayer is often especially hard. Try the awesome single player campaign of DOOM.

Battlefield games aren't usually fast paced since the map size is so large but at times and in certain games modes it can be intense.  I'm pretty sure Doom is up there in speed.

Funny thing is that multiplayer in new DOOM is considered slow by most old school players.

BF1 is nice game and you will definitely wont go wrong with it. It is not as fast paced but there is a lot going on so you may be dying even more in the begining than you are in DOOM right now.

Just for the record, I think it is also just getting older. When I picked FPS games back up after a 10 year hiatus, I thought they were super quick.

Then I played Rise of the Triad (the new one) and my mind was blown. (That's the fastest modern FPS I can think of.) You'll get better. Singleplayer is a bit more forgiving, try that.

The DOOM singleplayer campaign (again) is very good. Very good progression. By the end I felt like I had actually improved in my FPS gaming quite a bit, pulling off headshots while falling through the air and twirling around. Something I wouldn't have even thought of when I started it.

Play on hard as well. Then you HAVE to get better.

There are also different types of FPS.

There's the type where you hide behind things and peek out to kill things (the new Wolfenstein) and then there's the kind where you run around like a madman dodging bullets and shooting back while running and jumping and using launchpads and it's hectic as hell. (Run-on sentence for a reason.)

That's DOOM.

You just happened to pick a hard game to try to come back in to.
