i3 7100U + 4GB DDR4 for semi-heavy software

Finding a lightweight and slim laptop for-

  • Occasional medium quality Adobe Ps Rendering
  • ArcGIS works
  • 2D AutoDesk.

- I had HP Pavilion x360 in mind but it got a i3 Kaby Lake i3 7100U (With 4GB DDR4 2133 mhz RAM). Priced $729(!!) in a HP authorized store in India.

AutoDesk is a power hungry software and I can't  go above $750 for the laptop.

I am all ear for any other suggestions.

It isn't Kaby lake but you won't really loose any performance with this thing. You are getting an SSD with it too but I do recommend picking up one of these with it: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LYNQXCP/ref=twister_B01MFAITZ1?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

You will appreciate the extra storage.

I would want for those purposes 16GB RAM(8 Minimum). However, I could see only 6-8 if you were doing only one task at a time for the most part. More RAM = more ability to multitask. At 6 you can get 1 thing done at a time for certain. At 2-4 you are starving some of the more intensive applications. At 16 you're singing ~hakuna matata~!

Also look up the minimum specs of each program. Make sure the laptop is over those specs.

I did that for ArcGIS but they just says 2.2 GHZ. Nothing else.

4gb of ram is not enough for what you want. Sure, you will probably be able to run them but they won't work at all. Just go with the $500 acer gaming laptop I linked to earlier and throw in a 1tb hdd for storage.

I was checking that out. I am from India and it's hard to get one here. I depend on Amazon.in and MD Computers.
