if its white, soak in detergent and a small amount of bleach.

If its not white then soak in hot water with a bit of detergent, agitating the covered areas every once in a while. Last time I had a nosebleed in my sleep I just ended up drowning my pillow case in hot water, detergent and small amount of bleach for an hour or so. No blood stains to speak of to date :3

Now, important. If you use bleach and intend to soak something in it, then you need to use a small amount. Soaking something in a strong solution of bleach can damage the fibers if left long enough.

Yeah. Right... :P

If you can afford Vanish then use that in your wash when you wash them. It's really effective. Home Bargains is the way to go, really.

If you can't, get a washing up bowl and fill it from water from your hot tap when it's been running for a while and put non-bio in it. Then just leave the sheets for a few hours in it and then wash them after.

As long as you tackle it early though it should be fine. A white wash on permanent press (~60 degrees) should liift the stains with ease.

For stains with protein like blood stains, you better use oxygen bleach than chlorine bleach. The use of chlorine bleach overtime can cause white sheets to become yellow. I recommend the use of oxygen bleach because the active ingredient is Hydrogen Peroxide. Dab a generous amount of oxygen bleach to the stained part and let it sit for an hour or two depending how much blood was in it. Afterwards, add your detergent and wash it in warm and let it spin for 30 minutes.
