Hello there, I am soon going to build a new pc and I will be using my current hdd on the new pc + a ssd. I was wondering if upgrading to windows 10 on my current computer for free and then transfering the hdd will work as a way to save money on the OS.

Unless you already upgraded to Win10 you will have to buy another key.

Actually it might work,

I recently was moving some drives around and i plugged in my Laptops HDD into my PC
And when i booted my PC it changed the boot order to prioritize the Laptop HDD i just put in

So i saw that it took a really long time to get into windows, because it was reinstalling my Desktops's drivers on the laptop hdd's Bootdrive

and when it finally booted it looked I was running my laptop on my big desktop

kinda cool - dont know if i got lucky

https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/accessibility/windows10upgrade

You can AHEM just turn on some accessibility settings before running the update, then disable it after its finish.
