BIOS doesn't display on monitor

I have an Asus MG278Q monitor connected via Displayport and my BIOS / boot screen does not appear as anything Other than a black screen. Once Windows loads, that shows up fine and the monitor works perfectly everywhere else. 

 

The boot screens and BIOS display correctly when using another monitor

 

Anyone know how to fix this?

This is connected to my dedicated graphics card.

Use something other than a displayport cable.

My monitor is 1440p 144hz so I think I need a Displayport cable

Not for the bios.

 

Use something different.

according to the manual, you do not. but you have to use the port labeled HDMI1 to be able to use 144hz
