Overclocking questions

I have noticed that I have an option in my BIOS for "CPU ratio mode" I am new to over clocking and I am not sure exactly what this means. There are two options to chose from: Fixed, and dynamic. Currently the ratio is set to dynamic. I believe that dynamic doesn't always use the max clock speed of the CPU if it doesn't have too, and fixed always runs the clock at what you have set it to manually, is my understanding of this correct?

It's an i5 6600k. I actually slightly overclocked it already, I was just wondering what some of the settings in the BIOS did

Also, not meaning to be nitpicky, but the boards used in those videos are from a different manufacturer than mine, so it's hard to draw definite answers from watching it

I'll check it out one more time. But that board (if I remember correctly) uses something called adaptive, not dynamic mode

The question still stands, since it's a different board, it has a different BIOS, and different settings. Thank you though

Adaptive mode is for voltages.

Try looking in the manual for your mobo for an explanation, our at the very least, tell us which mobo you have.

My rig:
CPU: i5 4690k 24/7 @4.4ghz (1.165v) Max 4.7ghz (1.325v) COOLER: NZXT Kraken X61 MOBO: Asus Z97-A   RAM: 16GB Crucial Ballistix Tactical   GPU: EVGA GTX 970 SSC   PSU: EVGA GS 650W   CASE: NZXT Phantom 530 HDD: WD Caviar Blue 1TB + WD Black 2TB
