ok, i'm glad you told me that. Really all the info on my laptop is stuff that can be moved to a portable drive, then I'll reinstall windows. I'll just copy over my libraries and my game files. Thanks for letting me know so I dont waste my time trying countless other ways of fixing it. I'm running sfc right now, so we'll see if anything comes of it.

You're welcome, I have a tutorial video on how to clean install windows too, so the process for you would be exactly the same:

For a little while now, my dell inspiron 15 has been acting up quite a bit. This is by no means my gaming rig, but I have this separately for work purposes, and I have found that lately the disk usage, even after a full reboot is stuck at 100%, and the system and other necessary tasks are at the at the top of the task manager, so I can't disable those. Any Idea what this could be? Windows defender hasn't detected any viruses nor have I ever downloaded from shady places. After roughly 10 minutes every time after a boot however, it calms down. Here are screenshots of the manager:Screenshot (144).png

Additionally, if I open a new program that isnt currently running, disk usage climbs back up from roughly 7% to 95% and then very quickly drops back down, not sure if that is normal or not

And it isnt just one constant service or program either, it is very random, and switches between the top item very randomly.

No, I mean how did you put windows on your PC?

Clean install? Upgrade from 7 or 8? What?

Just google windows 10 high disk usage and try solution after solution. There are literally dozens of solutions, like disabling superfetch and windows search services, uninstalling msi command center, some guy even fixed it by disabling "show me tips about Windows" option in settings.

I have tried a lot of them, but if no one here knows i'll just keep trying more of those

Yeah that would be the problem :/

The upgrade process is broken and causes issues sooner or later.

Hundreds of people have had the same problem as you, it' one of the windows services not working properly.

You can try "sfc /scannow" in CMD, but if that does not work the only fix is a clean install.

And in the future, do not upgrade, always do a clean install ;)
