Hey Guys,

so I am in process of upgrading my current Setup and thinking about getting a Ryzen Chip for that purpose. Since my Setup is already cooled by a custom loop, I contacted the XSPC Support if they are releasing a new bracket for AM4. Fortunately I got a response pretty quickly that they are gonna release one this Month. Might be interesting for People using the same Block and thinking about to Upgrade.

AM2, AM2+, AM3, AM3+, to my knowledge all use the exact same mounting mechanism. Why would the existing XSPC AMD mounting plate not work on the upcoming AM4 socket? Has AMD suddenly decided to change the mounting plate design like Intel does with every new socket?

AM4 is using new Diameters unfortunately

CPU Length Height
Am3/3+ and beyond 96mm 48mm
AM4 90mm 54mm

So they did suddenly decide to tweak the mounting mechanism (hole alignments). That's dumb but at least they didn't go as crazy as Intel.

I was looking at a bit of a deal on a raystorm block and was wondering if I could slot it myself but it looked like there wouldn't be enough material left on the existing bracket.  i think I will just wait for new am4 product support then an additional bracket.

FYI EKWB has good info on the type of change.
