CALLING ALL AUDIOPHILES!

I'm building a DOS / Windows 98 gaming rig and I have a problem.

I have two sound blaster cards: The first is a SB Live! Value (CT4670) and a SB Live! 128 (CT4750).

Is one better than another? I want to get the best sound possible and I'm not all to experienced with audio.

Thanks!

the Live! Value is the more recent model

drivers from Vista onwards no longer support the card

but

has 3rd party drivers to make the sound card work on WIndows 7 onwards

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.

The audiophile way would be to try both and use the one that sounds the best.

If you have to ask in order to tell the difference, then it follows that it doesn't matter which one you use.

Does that make sense?

Yeah, I guess I should use my own ears. One might think that the Value sounds better than the other and vice versa.

Heh... they are older Creative Labs products. You will likely be limited by the card that is actually functioning, and then by the one you can find drivers. Windows 98 era was an ugly time for driver support... especially for proprietary components.
