Identifying the slot

I am in the process of cleaning up my PC and debating what I need to upgrade when I stumbled upon this slot. I have absolutely no idea what it is/what it does. Any help would be appreciated.

The slot sits underneath the GPU I installed. I have an Asus P8H61

The bottom one is PCI, but it's not extinct yet like AGP. Budget boards from right now, still have it. One between that and your GPU is PCIe x1. If that back part of that PCIe x1 was not sealed off and it has a open end, you can plug your gpu into that and it will still work, even though 90% of the gpu contacts will be hanging out.
