Hello, i was wondering i5 6600k or i5 6500 (i will not be overclocking, and the theme is kinda great budget pc it will be paired with: a evga 1060 6gb SC, 500w cooler master psu, hitachi Hdd, 275gb crucial Ssd, msi z170 a-pro mobo, 2x 4gb 2133mhz ram, a tx cooler master cpu cooler /kinda like the hyper 212 evo) in a cooler master n400 case

ps the cpu is being upgraded from current i5-2400 and slow 1333 ddr3 ram

I would try separating all the components with commas as the post is currently hard to read and may turn people off from posting here.

What is your exact question? Choosing between the two CPUs?

for reference - if you're not overclocking go with a H series motherboard.

invest your savings from the motherboard and CPU (6500) into either a better PSU or maybe at a stretch a 1070.

the Coolermaster PSUs are like bombs under any stress.

idk

if the 6600 (non K) is not an option, then get the 6500. it's still a very good CPU.

try to invest the rest of the money into a 1070 maybe.

if you live in the USA, 1070s can be had for as low as 370USD

The performance won't be that large, but some motherboards might be able to keep Turbo Boost engaged across all cores at the same time, allowing the CPU to 3.6GHz which would perform better than a 6600K at stock.

If you buy that motherboard, you will need to buy DDR4 memory.
