Hi guys so last time i made a post i was thinking my motherboard was broken. But I was wrong and need some help trying to get the volts right and clock speed for my ram to see if that will fix it. My computer will not post with both sticks in but it will with only one of the 8gb trident z 3200 sticks. How should i go about testing to see if it is the ram and what is the safe way to go about doing so. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Also (CPU) i7-6700k (motherboard) z170-x gaming 7

and you know what ram.

Please help i am so lost now.

have you tried all configurations of RAM? all sticks in all different positions? takes ages but has helped me diagnos slots before

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Yep, do that, and make sure to do so at stock speeds. If nothing works, it could be damaged pins on the motherboard, or just dead RAM slots. If it is the former, you'll have to try and fix them yourself, that's not covered by warranties, but if it is the latter you can RMA it.

Main Rig: R9 5950X @ PBO, RTX 3090, 64 GB DDR4 3666, InWin 101, Full Hardline Watercooling

Server: R7 1700X @ 4.0 GHz, GTX 1080 Ti, 32GB DDR4 3000, Cooler Master NR200P, Full Soft Watercooling

LAN Rig: R5 3600X @ PBO, RTX 2070, 32 GB DDR4 3200, Dan Case A4-SFV V4, 120mm AIO for the CPU

HTPC: i7-7700K @ 4.6 GHz, GTX 1050 Ti, 16 GB DDR4 3200, AliExpress K39, IS-47K Cooler

Router: R3 2200G @ stock, 4GB DDR4 2400, what are cases, stock cooler

I don't have a problem...

All of the slots work when i have one of the sticks in. The tech that helped me said if my CPU had issue it would not allow me to use every slot. And I have tried to do all configs for the ram.

well before you assume the CPU is the issue (that's very uncommon), see if anyone you know has another CPU or another motherboard you can test it with. Some local tech shops are nice and let you test your stuff there too; because as most people will tell you, it is far more likely the board is the problem. They have a much higher defective rate that CPUs.

Ok I was going to take the Ram to a shop and have them test it.

You can, but since each module worked individually, you can say almost with certainty that they aren't the issue

Yeah seems more like an motherboard problem for what I can tell.

I had the same issue, but upon changing the DIMM slots everything worked fine ( Hyper X Fury Black 2x8GB)
