Sudden bad wi-fi

Fitz

Hey guys. I don't come here often, but I know you can often help with problems people face with electronics, so here I am.

So recently my wi-fi has been awful. Well, not for everything. My ipad has fine speeds and signal (I pay for 25 mbps), and so does my brothers laptop. My phone, though, and my desktop and ps4 have awful internet. Phone signal is always at minimal when it connects at all, and gets 50 kbs to 5 mbps. PS4 is now on ethernet, but used to do anywhere between 10 kbps to 500 kbps on wifi. Computer isnt as bad, when it connects (half the time, maybe) it manages a usable 5-10 mbps. The rest are fine. Sometimes, once every two days maybe, my phone will get a 5 min miracle at max 25 mbps speed, then goes back to half a meg.

Is it possible that I could configure my router to be better? Or that I have too many devices connected? I doubt my ps4, phone and now computer all have bad wifi cards.

I'm using a Telus 25 mbps plan, with the fiber optic thingy and included modem-router (2.4 ghz) setup. My phone is a oneplus 3, if that helps. I can provide more info if needed.

I should also mention everything was working fine before. I dont know what caused the change. If you guys have any ideas, let me know.

thanks :)

use a wifi analyzer app to see what channels are being used. configure your AP to use the channel furthest away from any of those in use.

It's possible there is some interference being produced inside the home from a bad electric motor on a furnace to a LED light bulb that is about to die, other Wifi devices talking on the same frequency, improperly routed electrical wires, florescent lighting, CRT television tube leaks... i mean the list is enormous.
