I recently did a full reset on my desktop and now as I'm going back through the installers fro all my games, I'm finding that all of them refuse to run because of missing DLL files. If I'm installing them for the first time, why would they not reinstall those DLLs themselves?
Any ideas?

If it's Direct X based dll's, I would suggest you get this from Microsoft.

what's a reset?

are you reinstalling games from scratch ?

are you pulling stuff from another drive that you were using before?

Full fresh reinstall of Windows.

Installing everything from scratch.
I don't get the last question. There's the C system drive, and I have all my installers on D and I install them there too to keep them off the system drive. Now, that being said, I never removed the "installed programs" folder on D when I reinstalled Windows. I suppose it should just be deleted because it could cause problems?

So far that seems to have made a massive difference. The games I was having problems with are all starting.

So reinstalling Windows didn't properly install my GPU and drivers is that it?

If installing the DirectX runtime fixed the issues, it's just that DirectX was out of date/missing files.

If you still get some missing DLL files, I'd advise downloading and installing Visual C++ Redist packages from here.

You'll want to download 2012 Update 4, 2013 and 2015 and preferably install them in that order.
