HELP! Need to write a paper

So I need help writing a letter to send to companies around my area and across the world perhaps asking for funding and maybe sponsorship of my FRC robotics team. My problem is how Should I start and how do I sound legitimate so I don't just look like an a-hole asking for money.

businesses want to hear the gains of an investment. don't make it about you or anything emotional. make it strictly show what they have to gain by investing you Ex: "By investing in my robotics team you will stand to gain ...." also numbers impress them so if you have any helpful stats use them. also start if off by declaring your purpose for the needed funds. i'm not the best at writing but i hope this helps.
