I have recently (for the past day) been having many BSODs with the (rather generic) error of NMI_HARDWARE_FAILURE. I am dual booting 64-bit Windows 10 and Ubuntu 16.04 with this error obviously occurring in Windows 10. I have not experienced any issues with using it in Ubuntu but I also don't do the same things on both OSes. This error has primarily occurred when I play video games (which I don't do on Ubuntu) and it has also happened a few times on startup.

My machine is a Dell Precision T7400 workstation with a Nvidia GTX 960 which I put in ~1 year ago to replace the default card. I have not touched any hardware recently except for a new hard drive which I put in several days ago. The only issue I can think of is that I may have bumped the graphics card when plugging in the drive.

If anyone can help me, that would be great. If you need any dump files or further information, I would be happy to provide it.

What does event viewer say?  Please do not post anything regarding error 41.

Please spend as much time writing your question, as you want me to spend responding to it.  Take some time, and explain your issue, please!

Nothing. There are no errors in Event Viewer at the time of the crash.

There has to be something there.  There is no way you had a blue screen, unless its hardware failure at which point 99% chance you wouldn't get a blue screen anyways, without a event.

so VMWare isn't installed correctly, its throwing errors: VMnetUserif

You also have this error 0x00000080 which is a generic error...  This typically is result of a hardware failure and I'd start pointing at your memory.  Make sure your timings, voltages, and speeds are set correctly.  Additionally, check and make sure everything is on the QVL list.

Had some problem with my server board and W10. Probably the motherboard is not compatible with windows 10. Try Windows 7. I know that's not a fix but my mobo worked fine on W7.

VMware not being installed properly shouldn't be a problem, should it?

Regarding hardware failure, I replaced the RAM a month ago because some of the original sticks were failing. I did keep the ones that were not failing in the machine though. However there have been no issues for the past month until now. I can try removing the two sticks I left in and see if that helps.

Also, I don't think anything on the QVL (if one exists, this being a prebuilt and all) is still manufactured.

That should not be an issue here as I have had Windows 10 running on this thing for over a year now.

Okay, then it is either latest windows 10 updates that is screwing with your pc or some recent drivers. Could you post your dump files? I'll try to find something in it tonight.

Try memtest to make sure your ram are still good.

Yea, mismatching RAM isn't as easy going as a lot of people would like to make you think...

Well the RAM is of the same type (PC2-5300F...) and there were no problems for a month. I will try memtest and pulling out the two old sticks.

Well I have run memtest and there were no errors. I pulled out the two old sticks of RAM and will see if it continues to crash.

Try updating the bluetooth module from Broadcom? It is really dated, back from 2014. It likely caused two of your bsod.

Well it crashed again today, same error. I had removed the bluetooth device already and it still crashed. Besides removing the RAM and bluetooth, the only things different with these couple of latest crashes is that I got a new keyboard and mouse.
