Hi.
I have an old laptop which is a Presario Cq56
Specs.
https://www.amazon.co.uk/HP-Presario-CQ56-111SA-Pentium-Windows/dp/B00440D8Z6

I bought this in 2009-2010 and it is still working but never being used since i use a desktop.
Yes, it is a do or die project since it's worth about 100Euro today this pc.
I want to take it apart and mount it in a mini case where i can add fans for cooling, add a bigger fan on the processor, add 4bg more ram and a video card better than the current on board one.

That is a world record obtained on this processor but OC and stability testing will come into play once it's in a proper case with good ventilation.

Has anyone worked on projects like this and what pro and cons are there to it ?
Info, specifications and all about.

The processors supported aren't that great having top range 2.5ghz and this one a 2.3ghz.
No info about slot for graphics ?
I went through manual and did not find a slot type for graphic card to attach to it. Should i use external one that connects to the mini pci-express ? (the only one i know of is the one for wireless card so the wireless card can be removed and pci used to connect the video card)
For those confused about external video cars for laptops here's a link.

Or our beloved linus video.

Some issues that i have to pass before going into build are the Bios Locked, cost of operations and compatability.

While the case, fans, heatsink may be bought for merely 30 eur togheder, i have to consider a decent graphic card that gives price to performance rather than latest graphic cards out there. Psu for powering the Gpu needed and other connections/cables.

For now, razer and few others are offering solutions for laptops but the cost is over 400 Eur.

I don't think you can as laptop motherboards are a different form factor and desktop cases don't support that form factor.

Mini PCI-Express is only 2.0 x1, so you would severely cap the performance of any high-end GPU you throw in there. At best, you could make something like a nettop or a basic workstation.

Thanks for answers.
Fitting it in a case would not be that big of a deal since you can basically fit it in anything even a cardboard box or keep the back side(plastic) of it and screw that in a case.
Since i plan to fit it in a case i can mount the Psu and Gpu inside and make it look like a normal desktop.
The mini pci express 2.0 would bottleneck even hardcore Gpu and no other entry to the motherboard apart from Usb.
Will look for usb connection e-gpu reliability and compatability if there is any market/aftermarket and come with some links.

Heatsink and fan.

That heatsink is very small so adding a better/bigger heatsink should cool that processor pretty fine when overclocked, plus i am not planning world records with it, just posted the link with OC to show that the processor can be OC.

I use an i3 with 1050 on my desktop and this laptop/desktop would be used for gaming non triple A games by my nephew.. (he's only 8 right now so games as cs'go and overwatch)

Found this interesting but at a closer look at the reviews seems like these guys are over their head and most often screw things up.
Anyone tried and has positive/negative review about the product ?
