Get something like a gigabyte brix with intel iris, and then just get the rest of the parts. However if you MUST go with a laptop, then that is fine. If you want portability however, then get a razer balde

i like the new MSI ones they have alot of cool features if you HAVE to go laptop. just buy the one that fits your budget.
a small for factor pc something like in a prodigy would be alot better though. so if you can fit one of those cases in your area that would be WAY better

why are you recommending that if he is gaming yes the 765m is good for the price I admit that but the blade vs the asus with a 780m for cheaper or the same price its a no brainer or another one is the MSI GS70 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834152477

if you must get a thin less powerful option but since he can not apparently fit a tiny (MATX/ITX system in his house then the bigger more powerful laptops are the best options if its staying in the same place.

and if the 14" is anything to go by the screen is going to be awful on the blade.

I know this, but razer makes good items, and I have always advocated tn panels for response time. Also if you are looking at  a screen for a couple of hours gaming, then tn wouldn't matter because you wouldn't need viewing angles.
