PC upgrade

1. Budget & Location

I live in the UK and have about £600 to spend.

2. Aim

Would like to run R6seige and BF1 at 60fps at 1080p.

3. Monitors

I have two monitors. Both are 1080p

4. Peripherals

No need of any peripherals, already have them. I also won't need storage and possibly will not need to buy a different power supply (unsure).

5. Why are you upgrading?

I want to get a better gaming experience.

My current system is:

AMD FX-6300 six core processor

Nvidia geforce gtx 660

Asus M5A78L-M/USB 3 - AM3+ SATA2

8gb Kingston DDR3 1333mhz

450w corsair VS450

Standard cpu cooler

G6 Mars Blue

I mostly need advise on what motherboard to get and what CPU to get in relation to the graphics card.

Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Wait for Zen and Kaby Lake to be released, upgrading your mobo, cpu and gpu right now is not a good idea.

Do you have any idea of when these will be released? I was not planning to get the parts till around mid February anyway.

Zen and Kaby Lake will probably drop around January-February. And the VEGA presentation is in 2 days http://ve.ga/ (New GPU architecture from AMD).

£129 for mobo is in this case a bad choice. H170 or even B150 will do its job nicely and cost less, not to mention Z mboo is for OCing and 6500 is not OCable.

Why Z mobo with locked chip? Doesn't seem like OP plans to upgrade to an unlocked chip. Even the cooler isn't really needed. 16GB of RAM at so low budget? Save the money and get a GTX 1060 6GB or RX 480 8GB.

He is on low budget atm, what makes u think he will be able to afford premium hardware like K-chip or M.2 ?

By the time he gets a job or money for £1K build kabylake will be out of date. M.2 is only good for professionals who really need that kind of speed, gaming PCs dont.

At most he will upgrade his GPU in an year or two.

for entire build like u provided it is.
U went over his budget and its not worth it to spend extra £40 on something that wont increase the performance. I was just making sure the money is well spent.
With yearly releases I dont like word "upgradability". Hardware gets obsolete and current mobos ccant support next gen CPUs (generally speaking, kabylake might run on specific motherboards but I havent heard anything official yet). Until OP says he will upgrade CPU in an year I cant agree with the mobo choice , thats all :D

I see your point.

According to DX12 benchmarks 480 beats 1060 6GB or goes equal with it.

This should be good.
Doesn't include wifi, but id assume you would have a solution coming from an existing build.
Could trade less ram for a better gpu (Well, "better" since the 8gb 480 isn't any faster than the 4gb). But thats up to you.

You could even cut the RAM down to 8 GB if its only for gaming and save a few dollars, plus the upgrade path is always there if 8 GB starts to become limiting in a few years.

Main PC: i5 4590 @ 3.5 GHz ♦ RX 480 Armor OC ♦ 16 GB DDR3 ♦ GA-Z97-HD3 ♦ 120 GB 840 EVO ♦ 120 GB Intel 520 ♦ W10 Home

Scrapyard PC: Xeon X5460 @ 3.8 GHz ♦ HD 7870 ♦ 8 GB DDR2 ♦ GA-P35-DS3L ♦ 80 GB Intel 320 ♦ 160 GB WD Caviar SE ♦ W10 Home

Is RAM not that important for gaming? This PC is mostly going to be used or gaming.

I'd be using wired plus I have a WIFI card already. What would be the main advantage of more Vram? Would it be worth getting the 8gb 480?

Once I buy this PC I do not plan to upgrade for a while, until I can afford something a lot better. I'm not looking for something 'amazing' just a upgrade from what I have atm and give okay performance for a few years. The mobo is the part I'm most unsure about. How much do motherboards affect performance? What motherboard do you think I should get?
