How can you convert a PCI-E to PCI cheaply???/How can I fix SATA???

I have a PCI audio card which I want to use, but my only problem is at the the only PC I have spare which has PCI slots is currently being difficult and not working, as it is not detecting the SATA drives on boot, is detecting USB, so when I try to install windows onto it, none of the drives appear, apart from short periods when they do appear, which ends when ever I try to do something to the Drove, I know the drives work, as I have used them in other PCs. So I need convert a PCIE of another PC into a PCI, what is the cheapest way of doing this, as the cheapest converter I can find is £7.50, and I'm wondering if there is any way of doing this cheaper???

If anyone has any suggestions on how to fix the problem I'm having with SATA though I would love to hear your suggestions.

Well issues like the one you are describing are often caused by bandwidth limitations caused by having too much stuff plugged in at once. Your CPU only has a certain amount of PCIe lanes, which get split up between your PCIe slots, SATA ports, USB ports, LAN, WiFi, etc.

 

What else do you have installed in that system, and on what motherboard with what CPU?

 

 

As for going from PCIe to PCI, either get an adapter, or a new card, because the two are not directly compatible.

At the moment it's just the hard drive, as the problem only appeared when the additional stuff was added, but I've removed everything I added so it's just the HDD again and it's still not working.

where the cheapest place to get an adaptor or a good cheap audio card???

I am not aware of any such adapter. You're better off getting a PCI Express sound card. Asus has been making some good ones recently.

Oh, good catch, I was looking on eBay, didn't notice any

 

EDIT: IIRC there are sound cards in same price range with average quality level. Not sure how great of audio quality OP is expecting.

I currently have a creative labs SB0570 which I was thinking of putting in the adaptor, but to be honest I don't know sound cards, at all, and so I am not sure if it's worth it.
