How far is the wifi signal range of aftermarket router?

Syehino

Hey guys, currently my brother who lived about 100-130 meter from my house got a very poor wifi signal with my current default isp router (http://www.mudah.my/Original+D+Link+Wireless+Router+RG+DLINK+WBR2300-48685626.htm , i cant find its specs sorry). Im thinking about purchasing another router as a repeater to boost the signal to his house but im not sure if this will work. The router I planned to buy is this (http://www.lelong.com.my/tp-link-high-power-2x9dbi-wireless-router-tl-wr841hp-v3-unifi-maxis-ookas-I1676554-2007-01-Sale-I.htm) . Is it good enough ? and if someone could recommend a better choice is very appreciated but my budget is limited to RM 200 . Thank you and excuse my English, not a native speaker here :)

That website is painful to use.

Normally it'll give a range in the specs for the router, but that one claims "up to 10,000 square feet" which is obviously not gonna be real.

range depends on beacon power, band, frequency, obstacles and about 12 other things I know little about.

a repeater is going to be useless for that distance, you need to get a network bridge which is pretty pro stuff. i would recommend getting a good outdoor ethernet cable instead since they are probably cheaper and way easier to set up while giving you the best signal you're ever going to get.
