I am wanting to know what cpu coolers people use for their cpu the only requirement being that they are air coolers. Could you also please specify the cpu you have. If the cpu is overclock able could you specify how much you were able to overclock it to.

I use the NH-D14. I got it cheap and it works nicely and quietly. My 4670k is a terrible overclocker, so it requires 1.4v to get it up to 4.2GHz, which is a voltage you really shouldn't be putting through Haswell as I've been told. I idle at ridiculous usages, so between 40 and 50 Celsius usually. Under FPU only load, I can get temps above 90C, but that's the most extreme scenario possible at a ridiculous voltage with low fan speeds.

I hope you know about the idea of the silicon lottery...

Sig under construction.

I'm not gonna tell you what I use, because I bought what I have in a very specific corner case. Instead I'll tell you the ones I recommend with prices in the US

Deepcool Gammaxx 400 ($25-$30). The price-performance king for overclocked CPUs, you won't find anything that does as well as this for less than $40. The fan is blue LED which might put some people off, but you can change it and still be paying less than a similar cooler would cost.

Thermalright Macho Direct ($47). A step up in performance, and more importantly, in silence, the Macho Direct is a hulking mass of aluminium that's only beat in mass by the huge towers. It's here instead of the competing Cryorig H5 because its fan spins slower for similar cooling capabililties.

Be quiet! Dark Rock 3 ($60). For those folks who go for looks, but also want great cooling performance and silence. Only a smidge better than the Macho.

Noctua NH-D15 / Deepcool Assassin II / Cryorig R1 ($80). This category includes all of these because they're pretty much the same, 1.5kg monsters with 2 fans made for the highest-end overclocking. Since they're so massive, not recommended to mount on less sturdy motherboards.

AIOs. If you want all performance and don't care about noise. They'll keep your OC CPU below 60 degrees for those sweet sweet epeen bragging rights. Also really nice to look at.

We have a NEW and GLORIOUSER-ER-ER PSU Tier List Now. (dammit @LukeSavenije stop coming up with new ones)

You can check out the old one that gave joy to so many across the land here
