Do I have NVMe support?

Hey all,

I've recently added a new motherboard into my family of hardware: the "Gigabyte GA-990FX-Gaming".

I'd like to know if this motherboard, - having UEFI and a glorious M.2 slot - can support an NVMe SSD. I have read that these drives can be used for secondary storage, but who wants to use an NVMe drive as secondary storage? Phhh, I want to use it for boot!

I had a look around in my BIOS, and I see "NVMe Configuration", which points to some sort of compatibility.

The rest of my hardware should be listed in my sig for any other compatibility concerns.

Thanks for the help all. I've already done some research, but still don't know enough about it.

Thanks for the quick reply. If I manage to get at least another positive answer from someone else, I'll order one straight away. If you have any experience, would you recommend one drive over another? I'm going for 120gb-240gb.

Make sure the m.2 drive you get also supports nvme.  If not, it will operate under AHCI protocol.

Though I have yet to see a huge difference between the two.
