Ram oc limits

So I have a gigabyte b75m-d3h mobo and I try ocing my g.skill ripjawsX to 1866 from 1600 on the freq but it just goes down to 800 mhz am i doing it wrong or is this a board limitation ?

Like craig92 wrote, make sure you take into account that it's DDR.

If you know this, it may also be a limitaiton with the CPU.

My i7 950's specification only goes to 1066mhz, it works with 1333mhz aswell but higher than that and my computer wont boot :).

Solved Its my board it likes 1600 only im going to get a better full atx board later on.

Yeah it's the B75 chipset. Not meant for overclocking. And 800MHz x 2 = 1600MHz, like someone else said. DDR means double data rate.

I don't see how DDR has to do with it ?
