My RAM goes up to 90% usage when just browsing the internet with maybe 6-8 tabs open. When I open task manager it says that chrome is using around 300mb and bitdefender and malwarebytes use together around 300 mb too but everything else is using less than 40mb. When I restart my computer it goes back down to around 30% usage when browsing but as the day goes it goes up to 80%-90%.  I don't understand how this can be!

My specs:

RAM: Corsair vengeance 16GB DDR3 2400MHz

CPU: intel i7 4790k

Motherboard: MSI Z97 Gaming 5

GPU: MSI GTX 980Ti

1TB HDD

250GB SSD

It seems odd that the Google Chrome task is open so many times. Try closing the tasks and see what happens. You should only have one Chrome (32 bit) service.

Ok, I tried doing that and with only 2 tabs open it still shows 4 tasks (I think they are for my chrome extensions). But the RAM is still at 76% usage which I think is still very high as I do have 16GB. Even when I close chrome its at around 75% usage.

Nah. I'm pretty sure Chrome does at least one process per tab.

If you close chrome completely and your RAM is still 75% used, there may be some other background tasks hogging your RAM. If you scroll through your task manager, see if there are any darker orange tasks. Make sure you can identify them, and if you can't close them.

Use Shift+Esc to open Chrome's Task Manager. Windows task manager says mine is using 100MB, but it's using almost 300MB

I don't think the problem is chrome. When I restart my computer and open a few tabs in chrome as I normally do the usage is around 30%. When I check 5-7 hours later maybe after playing a game or just leaving the house and putting the computer to sleep or just leaving it running the memory is at 85% usage or more.

DUDE I HAVE THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM

SAME

I've been working on this for months to figure out why, but nothing. Persisted through several refreshes of Windows, even. Tell me if you figure it out, eh?

Do you have the same RAM too? Hah, my next move was to re-install windows... so that's a no go?

that is your issue. Chrome is more hungry for RAM then the Kardashians is for Botox injections

But it says chrome is only using 300mb - 400mb at most, so that shouldn't be enough to make 16GB of RAM go up to 85% usage.
