Hello, I am getting a new graphics card and I plan to use hdmi on my monitor. My xbox one also uses hdmi and I plan to stream my xbox one to my pc but there is too much lag for it to be playable. I am using wifi because the modem and router are unable to be in my room due to my room having no coaxel port in the wall. So my question is, can I plug an ethernet cable from my computer into my xbox one and have better stream quality? I don't plan to share the connection because the wifi card in my pc is too slow. Thoughts/ideas?

To get the lowest input lag possible, it is best to have your PC and Xbox connected to an ethernet hub, therefore the connection is local and it doesn't have to use Internet Bandwidth as well.

(This works for me with my PS4 and I can confirm that input lag is minimal)

CPU: Intel Core i7-5820K | Motherboard: AsRock X99 Extreme4 | Graphics Card: Gigabyte GTX 1080 G1 Gaming | RAM: 16GB G.Skill Ripjaws4 2133MHz | Storage: 1 x Samsung 860 EVO 1TB | 1 x WD Green 2TB | 1 x WD Blue 500GB | PSU: Corsair RM750x | Case: Phanteks Enthoo Pro (White) | Cooling: Arctic Freezer i32

if you're going to use the pc to play he game I assume you're jot going to be using the pc for something else which brings up the question why not just play on the Xbox?

No, you don't have to! A hub can be plugged just into your PC and the Xbox and it will connect them together.

oh sweet but would the xbox run off my computers wifi card or vise versa?

I would recommend getting an ethernet hub.... A local connection is better. If you use WiFi, then you are using an internet connection which will introduce lag....

Then just play on the Xbox when you feel like playing a game. I really wouldn't bother trying when one can simply power on the Xbox and play it. Even if it means changing the cable at the back it will be a better experience than streaming it.

Would it shorten the life span of my xbox if i just left it on oneguide when im not playing it and run my pc through it?
