Hello guys. So recently my GPU (GTX 1070) started doing this thing where it gets stuck on idle clock speed if I keep my PC on for like 6 hours (while I'm outside) and doesn't go up when going ingame resulting in a pretty low fps. Started happening after I updated my GPU drivers to the latest version. Is there a way to fix this? It gets back to normal after a restart but a permanent fix would be awesome.

Case: Asus ROG Strix Helios Gundam Edition Power Supply: Asus ROG Thor 850P

How old is the card?

Un-/resinatlling graphicsdrivers with DDU might fix this aswell but I am just guessing at it.

I've had this card for 2 months now and it started doing this as soon as I installed the new drivers. What the hell , Nvidia? I've rolled back to the old drivers and will update this thread if it happens again.

Happened to me before in my Stix 1070.

I uninstalled the Geforce Experience crap software and Poof problem gone.

I'd recommend you the same thing.

I noticed it went ahead and "optimized" my game settings, which resulted in me loosing around 20fps average.

I could try but , the thing is that it does it when I idle for a long time which is weird.

See if any Nvidia process is still active after uninstalling GE. Hit WinKey+R and execute "services.msc" without quotes. The only service that is required for the card to function properly is "Nvidia Display Driver Service". Everything else is circumstantial and or crap. Stop every other Nvidia service (you know it's an Nvidia service because it says Nvidia somewhere on it's name). If this doesn't work, good luck on the next driver. It takes some time for NV to adress DCP latency. For me on 373.06 worked just fine after i uninstalled GE.

cheers and good luck!.

Okay , I've finally found what's causing all this. For those with G-Sync monitors,  it's a bug that happens when you select "Windows and fullscreen" from the G-Sync options. I've changed back to "Fullscreen" and the issue's gone.
