VR COMPATIBLE ?

my smartphone samsung galaxy a5 2016 doesnt have a gyroscope . Am I still able to make my phone Vr ready by using the gyroscope of the headset itself ? Can I tilt my head and see videos etc. properly or is a phone with a gyroscope like the s7 the oly way to watch VR ? Can you also recommend me a headset ?

My brother has the same phone and it does not work. sorry...
