Crazy SLI ??

LOL!

The SLI bridge connects both cards and makes them very much like one card,  why which one has the monitor connected to it doesn't matter. (Little known fact the one with the monitor connected to it will run about 5c hotter so usually best to connect to the bottom card.) So connecting the SLI fingers to two separate systems would cause a pretty serious crash. Most likely a boot loop.

Dear LMG,

I know that the Linus Tech Tips channel is all about pushing electronics to there boundaries, so here is my Question. If you have two seperate computers and both of the computers have an Identical graphics card by Nvidia, Can you SLI Both of the graphics cards together while they are still in there separate systems? Will it fry the hardware or cause an error. Or will it run just without the benefits of SLI? I am very curious to know but to scared to try it on my own hardware.O.o

No, it just wouldn't work.

I'm going by common sense here and I'll say that it wouldn't do anything. I mean you connected two different computers with the same GPU unless you have both hooked up to the same monitor

Corsair 4000D RGB

Asus B550 Tuf Gaming II

Asus 7700XT Tuf Gaming

AMD 5600x3d

32gb 3200mhz gskil

No this will not work, because if you want SLI to work, both GPUs need to be on same motherboard PCI lanes.

I'm not even sure if it would work on same motherboard if one PCI lane would be directly to CPU and another would be via chipset ...

So there is no way for that to work if you don't have both GPUs directly on the same motherboard.

But I like how you think.

Intel i7 12700K | Gigabyte Z690 Gaming X DDR4 | Pure Loop 240mm | G.Skill 3200MHz 32GB CL14 | CM V850 G2 | RTX 3070 Phoenix | Lian Li O11 Air mini

Samsung EVO 960 M.2 250GB | Samsung EVO 860 PRO 512GB | 4x Be Quiet! Silent Wings 140mm fans

WD My Cloud 4TB

I understand that the SLI functionality will probably not work but will It break anything, or cause an error or just prevent sli functionality.

It is not so much a question of would it work but more a what would happen.

You have to have the two cards connected by a SLI bridge for SLI to work. There is no SLI bridge long enough to connect them.

If there was, you would cause a crash.

That's why we don't let computers drive for us.

If anyone asks you never saw me.
