I am wk seeing how I would use a evga 550 g2 to test some fans so I can see what Lind of airflow each one has I tested one but figuring out where to place each one for maximum cooling effiency, because I am thinking of using my corsair SP fans as front intake and using my AF as exhaust seems better as in this case it I the haf 912 so there is a grill on the front

just make slightly more air go in than out while following the natural flow aka hit air goes up.

You'd need flowmeter to actually measure amount of air fans are moving. You can power fans from PSU by using fan headers (if it has such) or SATA to 3/4pin adapters. As general thought, static pressure fans are better in places where you want air going more directly to where fan is pointing. Airflow fans are better where you just need something to move air.

Yep, this means that you will generally want airflow oriented fans for cases to replace the air inside of the case as quickly a possible unless there are many obstructions in the way. In all of the HAF cases, airflow fans are generally better.

Well I am trying out different things as there is some mesh in front at the moment I have a airflow fan on top intake and a SP as bottom because the hardrovr cage there

And I'm not trying to find out an exact measure of air just want to actually turn on the power supply by itself for the fans so I can physically feel the air coming out

Your hand isn't a good tool for measuring airflow but you can do it if you're curious.

But that doesn't answer my question how do ivuse the power supply without plugging it into anything else besides the wall

Oh.. you never asked a question--question marks help make things clear btw.

You can use a metal paper clip in the 24pin to start the psu. Make sure you turn it off/unplug the unit first.

psu_test_002.jpgis it dangerous doing that or would my best bet be just turn on the computer and see the fans like that?

Just make sure the psu has been unplugged/switched off before doing it and you'll be fine.

You can also get tester switch which imitates 24pin connection. Thats as safe as it gets.

Actually I think my power supply came with one, isn't it something that plugs into the 24 pin connector with a single wire connecting two pins?
