Hi,

I have about 1000 $US for my first PC.

The parts I was thinking about are :

CPU: Intel Core i5-6500

Motherboard: MSI B150 GAMING M3

GPU: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1060 Windforce OC 6GB

Storage: SSD Crucial MX300 275GB

Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws V, DDR4, 16GB (8GBx2), 2400MHz

Power Supply: XFX TS 550W

Case: Corsair Graphite 230T

I don't need anything more in terms of storage as for now. Is it worth paying some more $ for intel i5-6600K and some z170 motherboard for the ability to OC later on, considering that I cannot afford any better GPU ?

You could spend less on the ram (maybe 2 4 gb or some cheaper 16 gb ram) and get like a sapphire rx 480 insted of that weak 1060.

Or just wait for zen.  Couple more months maybe, then you could get cheaper i7s or just get a zen cpu

Agreed, find lowest DDR4 speed available(must be equal or greater than 1600 MHz), and only 8 gigs. As well, for this kind of build, considering that i5s aren't for workstations style use, I would switch to AMD 4 CPU and BEEF up the GPU to  a 1070, maybe. I'm currently on a hexa-core AMD fx-6350, and it works gorgeously. Pls review this suggestion.
