Would a e8400 work with rx460

Would a core 2 duo work fine with a 2gb rx460 sick of buying dead used core 2 quads

Core 2's are kinda showing their age now.  It would work just fine, but I'd save up for a different board or go with something a bit more the CPUs age (used 660 or 7850).

I already own the 460 and the 775 mobo with 8gb of ram

At that point, you may as well, but there will be some bottlenecking present, depending on the game and resolution.

CSGO is the only one that will definitely run fine.  Doom maybe you'll get 30fps all low if you're lucky.  Same with GTA V.

 

Check r/ hardwareswap if you're in the US.  They'll practically give you a core 2.

Understood, I saw your sig.  I'm speaking in terms of putting a GPU inside.  It would've still been pretty good for a (what was considered) mid range GPU a couple of years ago.
