HTC One M8 makes charger go crazy hot and smells of burning when trying to be charged :(

Simeon_

My phone has had issues with charging before but i put that down to the cables as new cables seemed to work fine. Just today as I attempted to charge my phone it went blisteringly hot and smelled of burning (i thought it was the hoover in the room at first) and it didn't show up as charging.

Oh, and when i plugged it into my laptop (smart idea right) it said it was using too much power and to remove it.

I don't know what to do, get a replacement or what?

a replacement is probably your best bet. is your phone still under warranty? though HTC may be nice enough to replace it if the warranty window isn't too far off

I had the same problem happen with my galaxy S5. Although, I just waited for the phone to cool down and got a new charger. The problem was soon resolved. I think you should get on the phone with HTC and maybe they will send a replacement if the phone is still in warranty.
