Does anyone have a gtx 1080 air vs watercool comparison?

If so please link it, i am thinking about water cooling my gtx 1080 FE but don't know if its actually worth the extra couple hundred bucks for the water block and fittings & such

Water cooling wont let you overclock more it will just keep much better temps. So is temp and sexy look so important to you ?

For watercooled 1080 check Jay2cents on youtube ;)

Yes i understand that, i am asking if you have a comparison of temps so i know if the number of degrees is worth it to me

IMO, i'm unwilling to put the incredible amount of time and effort into a custom loop, but i do love the AIO options. EVGA's specifically.

Jayz2cents reviewed the FTW hybrid model here which uses the same pump assembly you can buy from evga to install on your card.

:) i like putting the work into my custom loops so that i may be able to look at it and say "damn, i did that!"

Gamer's Nexus has done a ton, although they focused on the AIO models much more than custom loop stuff. JayzTwoCents has more about that.

Generally an AIO will let you push a 1080 FE to about the same performance as a stock Titan XP while keeping lower temps than the stock Titan.

Great! they are a work of art when they're done and the effort can be rewarding!

I'm personally swapping things around far to often to have any desire to put that kind of effort into it, but i certainly can appreciate the final product by someone willing to put the effort in.

I look forward to seeing the final product in the Show off your setup! thread!

My evga sc sees about 43c max but I don't turn the fans up on my rads in that rig.

Never ran it on air. My strix seen about 70c or high 60's with the fans on 70%. Never put it on water.

Both were in the same case.

My 1080 is quite a high clocker out of the box I think around 1900, mine on water sits at 2035 - 2050 that's the standard out of box thing, however it aint a FE. I believe load temps on review were 70 - 80C mine tend to be 50 - 56C (low fan speeds using 2x EK Vader and 3x Thermaltake Riing 12) and that's with CPU, GPU and mobo VRM's on a single loop with an alphacool UT60 240mm and a Alphacool crossflow XT45 360.

I cant offer an air comparison sorry, but if you compare what I said to the results in these reviews :

http://www.kitguru.net/components/graphic-cards/zardon/palit-gtx-1080-gamerock-premium-edition-review/28/

https://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Palit/GeForce_GTX_1080_GameRock/29.html

http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/palit_geforce_gtx_1080_gamerock_premium_edition_g_panel_review,10.html

The FE edition in one of the reviews was loading at around 83C, I think you would see a significant drop on water.

Hope this helps somewhat
