Stick with my onboard?

Go to solution Solved by ShearMe,

The 500X's cable is annoyingly infuriating, but it has the more comfortable pads. The Pioneer feels lighter, though. I'd go 500X if you were willing/able to replace the cable, and you could mod in an extra jack/wire to add on one of these: http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-Pcs-Flexible-Black-Mini-Microphone-Mic-For-PC-Laptop-Notebook-/400259860926?pt=US_Computer_Microphones&hash=item5d3158c9be

There's more than those two options for headphones, hence those questions. Sennheiser 558 are a popular option, and the PC360 is basically a 558 with a mic that's at a recommendable price (usually $200+).

How much does the snowball pick up on your keyboard/mouse clicks? I had the yeti but now matter where I position it I could hear clicks pretty frequently. I understand the use of PTT but when I'm not using PTT (Skype or streaming) this was a huge issue for me. Then again I did not have this mic on a shockmount.

It won't improve your sound, it'd probably be about the same performance.

Only get a soundcard if your onboard is staticy or crackley, even then don't get a sound card, get something like the Fiio E10 on a budget.

Just stick to onboard. Would rather listen to someone fart through a radio in a deserted desert with poor radio reception than use creative soundcards.

Enjoy those tacos now, for in 1000 years they will be illegal... eh Ha Ha Ha! I think we all know why.

No way bro. Regular headphones, sure! The Pioneer SE-A1000 are about half the price of their original MSRP and sound great. There's cheaper options too - what's your budget?

This. I've been eyeing the Sennhesier HD558 to get to a cheaper price (Black Friday) before I pick one up. You could do this, buy the HD558 at your local BestBuy, try them out, and if you like them return them and buy them cheaper online. The HD558 is the only good headphones I have seen locally.

I think i'd be spending around 50-150$ maybe more if need be

Oh, you definitely got good options. Would you prefer closed or open, pleather or velour, etc? Recently made a comparison between the Pioneer SE-A1000 and the audio-technica ATH-AD500X, and there's quite a few reviews lsited at the bottom of the OP in the FAQ.

Do you need a mic too? I recently went from a modmic/zalman clip on to a blue snowball and like not having to worry about getting anything attached to my head before talking on teamspeak.

After reviewing the headsets which did you lean toward more? In my opinion I'd rather get the Audio tech but Im not sure considering the price.

Also yes I would be in need of a mic. I have little to no dealings with mics but I've always heard about Snowballs being good.

I don't actually own a snowball but, My keyoard is fairly quiet so im not too worried. Yet again im only going to talking to my friends on skype so im not too concerned about super mic quality. Which brings me back to the question should I buy a headset and a mic or get a middle of the raod Headset that has a mic that does decent in both areas?

Do you use skype to talk to your grandma or anyone like that? Sometimes I use skype for non gaming crap and at that point there is no point in using PTT so I was wondering with your setup how audible are keyboard clicks for non PTT

Even with PTT, the mic picks up the button I press/release and people have found it a minor annoyance, especially if I really slam down.

I haven;t launched skype in weeks since my irl friends and I recently switched to Blackberry Messenger on our phones and use TS exclusively on the PC.

I don't feel too comfortable with doing a mod and making it look awful then using it til I get sick of it and buy a new headset.

I'll probably shoot for the PC360 here in a few weeks. Thanks for the awesome advice
