Alright so.. I have swelling and irritated joints in my right hand. It started in one finger and now it's in three. It's 11 PM so I can't really call my doctor. I googled a bunch of different combinations, and it doesn't seem to be anything that comes up. I know I haven't touched anything odd like poison ivy or rash causing things, as it's not a rash either. Just swollen and burning joints. I'm 18 so it's not arthritis and it also doesn't spread as fast as it has for me. So the final question is, should I just go to sleep and see how it is in the morning? I don't think it warrants a hospital visit or anything like that. My only fear is waking up and having a giant lobster claw hand. I'm aware, I'm asking a tech forum about this, but I was just curious if anyone had suggestions or recommendations, especially if they've come across this before.

I also recently started taking Wellbutrin, but it doesn't seem to be a side effect.

tldr; swollen ass fingers with itchy/irritated joints, (not a rash), sleep it off? or what?

Yes, let's go to a tech forum for medical advice...

Is there a health help line that you could call? Around here we have that, it's 24/7 and the people you are talking too are real doctors. It can be a pain to get ahold of them (like 30 minutes of holding sometime), but they will tell you what to do. I'm in Canada so I'm not sure if there's a service like that in the US, but it might be worth looking into.

Other than that, you could try asking on a medical/health forum, even if you don't talk to real doctors you'll get better suggestions than on a tech forum. Anywyas, you should really base yourself on advices from a doctor, try to see if you could call a help line or something like that. I woudln't rely on forum members, wether it's from a tech or medical forum, for questions like this one.

I figured I'd give it a shot cause I was already logged in lurking, just to see if anyone had some suggestions. Like your health help line, if it gets worse I'll definitely do that, didn't even come to my mind.

If I were you I wouldn't wait and call now. Not that I think it's that serious, but it can take sometime before you talk to someone, so you might aswell get in the system as soon as you can. ;)

Just put ice over it. see what happens 1 hour later. Have you considered insect bites? (Where I live we have black widows living everywhere.)

I had ice on it for an hour earlier, didn't really do much, good or bad. & That's what I figured at first, but it went from my ring finger to my thumb, over the course of several hours. Good suggestion though

I'll save you all the Googling: You are going to die!

Not really but that's likely the conclusion you'll end up with. Even if one of us were a doctor we could hardly give a diagnosis online, just get to your gp asap or visit a hospital if you are really worried.

You didn't just come in from the cold did you?

No it was actually really warm compared to usual today. & yeah googling symptoms is a bit ridiculous, I was just hoping there'd be a trick like.. "rub lotion then rinse in hot water" or something to make the irritating go away. Not 'you're going to die from rhumatoid authritis'

Wellbutrin may have something to do with it. Muscle and joint pain are some of the side effects. If you arnt taking it for smoking cessation, then see your doctor/psychiatrist and ask to have your medication switched or tapered. In any case, your doctor will know best. I would suggest making an appointment right away. asap
