I just spilled stuff on my computer not 3 seconds ago, I dismantled the entire thing and cleaned off the drops on the mother board and cpu with a towl. Is it ok to use a towl? Also my computer is cover in dust and when the liquid fell on the cpu heat sink it got all gunked up, I don't have any compressed air, non static cloths, or thermal paste. What should I do?

Put the stuff in rice. For the stuff that's too big, leave it out to dry for a long time.

I'm assuming this is a desktop?

In any case, keep it off, make sure there is no power at all, and you can basically just leave it out to dry. You'll probably want to dry off metallic components with a towel (yes, a towel's fine, so is paper towel, tissue, and microfiber), just to avoid corrosion.

And for the love of god clean out that dust after it's dry.

"Do as I say, not as I do."

-Because you actually care if it makes sense.

Better safe than sorry. If you don't have rice, dry off as much water as you can with paper towels and such, and leave everything to dry for awhile. And by awhile, I mean like a week min in a warm place.

Wait until you can go buy some paste and board cleaner. DO NOT use synthetic materials anywhere near the board or cpu. Wait until you can go buy some paste and board cleaner. DO NOT use synthetic materials anywhere near the board or cpu.

been a lot of posts like this recently, I don't know how people manage it. Anyway, do as others have said already regarding letting it dry. You did the right thing switching it off asap. Chances are that if YOU switched it off and it didn't do it itself - I guess it will be ok. Just be patient regards letting it dry out, like 1 - 2 days
