This occurred at 11:40ish at night. I have wake-on-lan turned on in Windows and in the BIOS. Has anyone heard of windows update turning on a fully turned off computer?

Is this an attack on my network or just Microsoft going overboard?

Im sorry but this just seemed like the perfect moment.

BUT

I've heard that power surges do have the tendencies of turning on a PC. Could of been a small power surge maybe? Or could be a breach in your network?

Wow this was old as heck, Need to update this signature!

Try turning off wake on lan for a bit, See if it still does it? If not then I'm clueless

I actually unplugged the link to the internet and after I did that it stopped trying to turn on.

Sorry I don't know how to use this forum. jk

Could you try doing it with the internet plugged in and wake on lan off? Because it sounds like someone or something is sending your pc a magic packet. If it does well... Im not a internet expert so I wouldn't know from here on out...

Magic packets are at layer 2, so they would have to be crafty to have it enter my network. It stopped when I shutdown the interface to the internet and cleared the nat translations. Right now I'm just worried if they got into anything and if it was an attack. I don't know where to go from here.

Thank you and one more thing before you go... :) is this the correct place for it or do you think this should this be under networking?

I know way more about networking than windows. The most I've done is look at event viewer and google it!

If you didn't know anything at the start I would of posted it here, And it doesn't really matter too much where these are posted if they have at least something to do with the problem.
